Bright green water, hills with densely forested jungle, breathtaking sunsets and all for backpacker prices. Yes, you can backpack on Pulau Tioman and it’s great! I feel as though I’ve ended up at a location of Expedition Robinson, a Dutch tv show about surviving on a deserted island. And that’s not so crazy, 12 episodes took place on the Malaysian Islands. Near Tioman became a number of seasons long Expedition Robinson.
On Pulau Tioman you may want to backpacking. It is one of the most beautiful islands where I’ve ever been. The jungle in the hills, the bright green water, the thatched bungalows: a paradise.
Time Magazine called this paradise in the 1970s into one of the most beautiful islands in the world. Many backpackers travel from Kuala Lumpur to the boat by bus to Mersing to pack you in 1.5 hour to Tioman. You can also fly directly to Tioman.
There are several villages where you only go by boat can sail. There is something for every budget, but low budget travel you are like me and you’re not afraid of an attack by hungry monkeys strips at 4 o’clock in the afternoon? Then Grace beach my recommended. You get the same amount of bright green and jungle for back then that you chose for some more expensive in a beachhouse. It is a subjective concept, I then found 20 euro p. p. p. n expensive. Then you know anything I found expensive;-) Tjsa the longer you leave the better you must deal with your money.
You travel just as I at the time for long periods of time? Then Grace is a must. Grace is especially known among backpackers and single travelers and as the place to diving, cheap to sleep and parties. We slept in Puteri Grace Inn, near the jungle-ish hills and within walking distance of the beach. Oh yeah and those monkeys? Trash can close (not totaaal helps), bikinis by the Clothesline and just relaxing in your hammock stand by and watch them fighting each other to a bone. Spy you?
