It was one of the coldest , but also one of the coolest days in New York. Such a nice tourist day, where we could finally after years of waiting catch a glimpse of the enormous statue of liberty from the Staten Island Ferry. This ferry will take you from Manhattan to Staten Island. If you stand on the right side of the boat, you can shoot some pictures of the statue, which is much smaller than in movies! To be honest, the size of the statue of liberty was a bit of a disappointment to me. Nevertheless, the trip from the boat to Staten Island is really amazing if you have not seen Manhattan from another island. We stayed two days in Manhattan already, but had not spotted huge skyscrapers in these days! The view from the ferry with the skyline becoming visible bit by bit is one of a kind and definitely a must do if you spend the first time in New York. Or even better, by the helicopter, which is very mainstream, but hey, no one steals that experience from you.
Where do you catch the ferry to statue of liberty? You can catch it at Battery Park (see map below)
